报告摘要:
The talk will introduce complex networks as a framework for studying the interactions of the constituent units of complex systems. The approach will be from a physicist’s perspective, drawing analogies from the traditional physics investigation of the dynamics and properties of matter. Applications and extensions to many disciplines will be highlighted.
报告人简介:
Lai Choy Heng (赖载兴) is a Professor of Physics at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Deputy Director of the Centre for Quantum Technologies, a national research centre of excellence hosted by NUS. He did his undergraduate and graduate education at The University of Chicago, and was a research fellow at the Niels Bohr Institute, Copenhagen, before joining NUS as a faculty member. He was among the pioneering members that established research efforts in computational science, nanoscale science and technology, quantum information science, nonlinear dynamics and complex systems at NUS. Among the academic administration responsibilities, he was Head of the Department of Computational Science and Department of Physics, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Vice-Provost (Academic Personnel), and Executive Vice-President of the Yale-NUS College. His current research interests are in (quantum) information theory and dynamics on complex networks. He is a Fellow of the Singapore National Academy of Science, and the recipient of the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Academiques award by the French Government, the Institute of Physics, Singapore (IPS) President’s Award 2015, as well as the science and technology cooperation award 2014 in Suzhou.
